弁慶鏡井戸
Benkei Kagami Ido
(Benkei Mirror Well)
書寫山には武蔵坊弁慶が少年時代を過ごしたという伝説がある。昼寝をしていた弁慶の顔に、喧嘩好きな信濃坊戒円がいたずら書きし、小法師二、三十人を読んで大声で笑った。目を覚ました弁慶は、なぜ笑っているのか分からない。弁慶は、この井戸に映った自分の顔を見て激怒し、喧嘩となる。それがもとで大講堂をはじめ山内の建物を焼き尽くしてしまったといわれている。
Local legend has it that a famous monk, Musashibo Benkei spent his early days at Mt.Shosha. One day, when Benkei was napping, a young priest drew on Benkei’s face. He finally realized that he had been drawn on after he looked into this well. It is said he was so angry with this mischief that he burned almost all of the buildings including Daikodo(main hall).
四天王立像
Shitenno-ryuzo
釈迦三尊像とともに性空上人の弟子である感阿（かんな）上人の作（986年）とされる。大正期に摩尼殿が火災にあったことで、摩尼殿内にあった別の四天王像が建物とともに消失してしまい、大講堂に安置していた本四天王像を摩尼殿に移していた。その後、2023年に90年振りに大講堂へ戻された。
Shitenno-ryuzo (standing statues of the Four Celestial Kings) and Shaka-Sanzon-zo (the Shakyamuni statue flanked by two attendants) are said to have been made by Kanna Shonin in 986. Although there was a fire in the Mani-den in the Taisho era (1912–26) that destroyed many a different Shitenno statue, this statue had been moved to Mani-den and was kept safe. In 2023, the statue was moved back to Daikodo (main hall).
